Itinerary

Day 1

Saturday, December 5 | Arrive in San José

Arrive in Costa Rica’s vibrant capital, where you are welcomed and transferred to Hampton Inn by Hilton, your comfortable base near the airport.

The afternoon is yours to rest and acclimatize.

At 17:00, meet your expedition leader and fellow runners in the hotel lobby for the welcome briefing, followed by a relaxed welcome dinner.

Day 2

Sunday, December 6 | Talamanca Mountain Challenge

After breakfast, drive into the high Talamanca Mountains — cool air, misty ridgelines, and peaks that soar above 3,000 m.

Begin your adventure with a demanding 15 km traverse across seven summits, testing lungs and legs while rewarded with sweeping views.

At the finish, transfer to Lauráceas Lodge in San Gerardo de Dota, where warmth, hearty meals, and mountain hospitality await in the heart of the cloud forest.

Day 3

Monday, December 7 | Cloud Forest Trails of San Gerardo

Wake to birdsong and the cool mist of the Dota Valley at Lauráceas Lodge.
Today’s 15 km run winds through enchanting cloud forest trails, past moss-draped oaks and tumbling waterfalls, with chances to spot the elusive resplendent quetzal.

The afternoon is yours to relax at the lodge or join unique local experiences.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner (snacks and aid stations provided during the run).

Accommodation: Lauráceas Lodge, San Gerardo de Dota.

Optional Activities: Birdwatching excursion with a naturalist; guided visit to a family-run coffee plantation with tasting.

Day 4

Tuesday, December 8 | Queen Stage: Providencia to San Isidro de Dota

Today is the “Queen Stage” — a 30 km point-to-point run from the misty heights of Providencia to the warm valley of San Isidro de Dota.

Unlike other days, this stage is self-supported, with runners carrying their own fuel. Along the way, you’ll be welcomed at isolated mountain homes, where local families prepare traditional snacks and refreshments, turning this epic challenge into a deeply authentic cultural experience.

Afterward, continue to the laid-back coastal town of Manuel Antonio and check into Hotel Parador, a hilltop resort overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Included Meals: Breakfast (self-supported run, with snacks and refreshments prepared by local families en route).

Accommodation: Hotel Parador, Manuel Antonio.

Day 5

Wednesday, December 9 | Coastal Run

Trade mountains for coastline on a 10 km coastal run through Manuel Antonio’s lush Pacific landscapes. Traverse seaside trails that wind past tropical forest, hidden coves, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the ocean.

After the run, spend a relaxed afternoon enjoying the beachfront pools and gardens of Hotel Parador, or exploring nearby Manuel Antonio National Park with optional adventures.

Included Meals: Breakfast (snacks and aid stations provided during the run).

Accommodation: Hotel Parador, Manuel Antonio.

Optional Activities: Guided visit to Manuel Antonio National Park; sunset kayaking along the coast.

Day 6

Thursday, December 10 | Into the Wild: Drake Bay

After breakfast, journey south to Sierpe and board a boat that winds through mangrove estuaries to your trailhead. Set off on a 10 km jungle run, where vibrant wildlife calls from the canopy above.

Arrive at Corcovado Wilderness Lodge in Drake Bay, a remote paradise where the rainforest meets the sea and adventure meets tranquility.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (snacks and aid stations provided during the run).

Accommodation: Corcovado Wilderness Lodge, Drake Bay.

Day 7

Friday, December 11 | Trails of the Osa Peninsula

Step into one of the most biodiverse corners of the planet. Today’s 20 km run winds through dense rainforest, alive with monkeys, toucans, and scarlet macaws, as you splash through rivers and follow rugged singletrack.

Return to Corcovado Wilderness Lodge for a well-deserved rest, or choose from enriching optional adventures in this wild sanctuary.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (snacks and aid stations provided during the run).

Accommodation: Corcovado Wilderness Lodge, Drake Bay.

Optional Activities: Guided excursion into Corcovado National Park; snorkeling or scuba diving at Caño Island Biological Reserve.

Day 8

Saturday, December 12 | Return to San José & Farewell Dinner

Fly back to San José this morning and return to Hampton Inn by Hilton, your comfortable final stop before departure. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon at the hotel or explore the capital’s lively cafés and markets.

In the evening, toast your achievement with a festive farewell dinner, celebrating the bonds forged and the miles conquered.

Optional Activities: Chocolate-making workshop; guided tasting tour of Costa Rican craft beers and coffee.

Day 9

Sunday, December 13 | Departure

Enjoy a final Costa Rican breakfast at Hampton Inn by Hilton before your transfer to the airport.

Depart with memories of highland peaks, cloud forests, oceanfront trails, and the warmth of the communities that welcomed you along the way.
